About East River Football Club
East River Football Club was founded in New York City in 2025 by a group of friends with a simple idea: play good football, compete, and build something meaningful together.
What began as a football team quickly became something much bigger.
New York is one of the greatest cities in the world, but it can also be an incredibly difficult place to find compatriots. ERFC was built around the belief that sport can change that. Football gives us a reason to come together, but the friendships, experiences, and sense of belonging that grow from it are what truly define our club.Today, ERFC is home to a diverse community representing more than 37 nationalities, bringing together people who have lived in New York for years alongside those who have only just arrived. Regardless of where someone comes from, our goal is to provide a place where people can meet like-minded individuals, build genuine friendships, and feel part of a community in a city of millions.
And our ambition extends beyond the football pitch.
As ERFC grows, we want to create more opportunities for our community to connect — through other sports, social events, game nights, dinners and lunches, community service, volunteering, and experiences throughout New York City. We want ERFC to be a community people can participate in, contribute to, and make their own.
On the pitch, we remain ambitious. We want to play attractive football, compete at a high level, develop as players and teams, and win together. However, trophies and results will never be the only measure of our success.
Success is someone arriving in New York knowing nobody and finding their closest friends through ERFC. It is creating friendships that extend far beyond football. It is helping people feel at home in New York and giving them a community they can belong to.
